The Church Mouse at 374 South County Road is a thrift shop located in Palm Beach. A very worried woman came into the shop. She said to the clerk, “I need your help. I donated a lot of stuff to your shop. I may have accidentally donated grand-daddy’s ashes as well. His remains were put in a decorative vase. He was well-loved but hut he was mean old cuss who didn’t go to church. I have been having nightmares since I gave the donations to the church. I woke up in the middle of the night to the scream, ‘Why did you do this to me?’ I then realized his vase was no longer on the shelf. I then realized that my son who helped me must have accidentally put in the vase amidst the donations. Everybody in the family was having the same strange dream.
The clerk replied, “I’m glad you came. We’ve noticed things have been moved around for the past few days. We couldn’t figure what had happened. Sarah, over there, thought it might be a poltergeist. We convinced our minister to perform an exorcism yesterday, but it did no work. We still found some stuff moved around when we came in this morning.”
After a few minutes, the clerk was able to help the woman find the vase. She thanked the clerk and went away in a happier frame of mind. So, did the clerk. A few days later the woman called back to say, “No more nightmares.” The clerk replied, “No more poltergeists.”
